US Citizenship: Fast Track to United States Citizenship

Immigration reform is on President Obama’s list of policies to be tackled and fixed.

Will he get the bi-partisan support he needs to make the current dysfunctional system functional? On several occasions President Obama has mentioned getting illegal immigrants out of the shadows and in line for a fast track toward citizenship. Read some comments below on where the President stands:

“President Obama believes that our broken immigration system can only be fixed by putting politics aside and offering a complete solution that secures our border, enforces our laws, and reaffirms our heritage as a nation of immigrants. He believes our immigration policy should be driven by our best judgment of what is in the economic interest of the United States and what is in the best interest of the American worker. President Obama recognizes that an orderly, controlled border and an immigration system designed to meet our economic needs are important pillars of a healthy and robust economy.”

“President Obama supports a system that allows undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens.”

On June 25th, the President met with Congressional leaders from both sides of the aisle to open up dialogue on how to reform a broken immigration system and come up with workable solutions. A range of ideas were shared and the administration voiced its full commitment to immigration reform. A quick fix is not expected, but talks will continue and ideas put forth. Some changes have already been implemented, such as an updated, technologically advanced USCIS website that will allow immigrants for the first time ever to have access to the status of their applications.

As further developments progress, we will keep you posted.
